The award winning ensemble and world-leading commissioner of choral music, ORA, launched their Young Composers Programme in 2019. Tapping into their network of industry-leading composers who have themselves been commissioned by ORA singers in the past, they run rigorous mentorship courses for budding composers from state school backgrounds. This brilliant initiative comes at a time when only 15% of state schools provide students with sustained music training, giving young people free and equitable access to the wonderful world of composition.
The Symondson Foundation has committed to three years funding to help ORA continue to tackle the lack of music provision in the state sector, and to inspire the next generation of composers.
