Based in Islington, a London borough with the 4th highest child poverty rate in the whole of the UK, The ARC is a visionary community centre looking for thoughtful, diverse ways to support all the members of the locality. Founded just a few years ago, their operations include a food bank, wellness programmes and social groups, a coffee shop, careers for young people programme, and multiple gardening sites in the area dedicated to ‘growing their own’. The centre is run by locals for locals, and is a shining example of how lived experience and local understanding informs how best to help serve the needs of a community.
The Symondson Foundation has committed to unrestricted, multi-year giving to help The ARC provide holistic support to their community, particularly during the unprecedented challenges caused by the spiralling cost of living.
